Workshop “Characterization of biomaterials – biological assessment” – ZBDW 3D project
This week (5-9.12.2022) we have been hosting the international workshop “Characterization of biomaterials – biological assessment”.
Such workshop involves scientists from the Łukasiewicz Research Network – Institute of Precision Mechanics (Łukasiewicz – IMP), the Faculty of Materials Science and Engineering – Warsaw University of Technology (WIM – WUT) and the Chemnitz University of Technology (TU University of Technology)
During the workshop, our colleague Dr Joanna Idaszek presented the most established methods used in research to in vitro characterize biomaterials for biological assessment. The participants visited WIM-WUT laboratories and attended the workshop in the Biomaterials Group’s areas. Thus, introductory cell lab procedures were shown and participants themselves had the opportunity to get a basic experience in aseptic condition, to learn basic cell lab procedures. Afterwards, they will move to biocompatibility and cytotoxicity assessments, concluding the week with imaging techniques such as SEM and confocal microscopy.
The workshop is organized by Prof. Wojciech Swieszkowski together with our colleague dr Joanna Idaszek, who had the pleasure to showcase standard procedures in the characterization of biomaterials. It is the third workshop within the multi-parties #project “Integrated research and teaching system for the implementation of additive technologies” (ZBDW – 3D), financed by the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange (NAWA) under the Strategic Partnerships Program.
